5 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (May 27 – 29)

It’s feeling like summer, and perfect timing too since there are plenty of parades and other Memorial Day activities this weekend. Most towns in Bucks County are having their own parades, all through Lower and Central Bucks. In between all the delicious picnic food and summer-like events, take time to remember all the men and women who served our great country, and community. Enjoy the weekend, and here are some food-filled events for you.


1. Summer Wine Concert Series

Friday, May 27, 6:30 – 9:30 pm, Shady Brook Farm, 931 Stony Hill Rd., Yardley, PA

Every Friday night, as long as the weather is nice, enjoy live music by local artists and wine tasting at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley. Each week there will be a different live band, Rose Bank Winery wine, food and wine available for purchase, and fun for the kids. There’s room to dance, relax, and play. Admission is $5 per person, and $6 for wine tasting. Wines are also available for purchase. The event runs from 6:30 pm – 9 pm. This week, the band that is playing is River of Dreams.

2. Pig Roast

Saturday, May 28, 12 – 4 pm, Newtown Farmer’s Market, 2150 South Eagle Rd., Newtown, PA

If you’ve never been to the pig roast at the PA Dutch Amish Newtown Farmer’s Market in Newtown, this weekend is your chance. The entire market is open on Saturday’s from 9 am – 4 pm. Not only is there a pig roast, there are also plenty of aisles of authentic food like European, Mexican, BBQ, sushi, or you can fill up your bags with fresh seafood, meats, cheeses, produce, and other food items to take home. Reviews on Facebook say that the market has “the best wings,” great lunch, and the pig roast is authentic. Call the market for more information on the pig roast at 215.860.8821.

3. Pints & Paws for Harley’s Haven Dog Rescue at Free Will Brewing Co.

Beer and pups? Does it get much better than that? This Saturday, May 28, from 2 – 6 pm at the Free Will Brewing Co. in Perkasie, celebrate the warm weather with a cold local beer and check out some dogs that are looking for their “furever” homes. Ollie’s Food Truck will also be on site, which serves up various burgers and sandwiches. The event benefits Harley’s Haven Dog Rescue, which is an adoption service for dogs in Perkasie.

4. Memorial Day Weekend Specials

Saturday, May 28, 5 – 11 pm, The Washington House Restaurant, 136 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA

Head to the Washington House Restaurant for some festive surf and turf dinner specials. Also, enjoy the return of the red, white, and blue margarita flights! 5. Firehouse Breakfast

Sunday, May 29, Haycock Fire Company, 50 Old Bethlehem Road, Quakertown, PA

Celebrate the last few days of May and Memorial Day with a tasty all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the Haycock Fire Company in Quakertown. The fire company will be serving breakfast from 8 am – 12 pm. Adults are $7, children from ages four to seven are $5, and children three and under eat free. There will be pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage links, plain and seasoned potatoes, cream chipped beef, toast, fruit cocktail, and homemade desserts.
