5 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (Dec 18 – 20)

For those that celebrate Christmas, you know what I mean when I say everyone is in rush mode. There’s a certain joy to the frantic days, because you know when you finally sit down with friends and family it’s all worth it. Take some time to relax and take the kids (or yourself) out this weekend with some of the seasonal events in Bucks County.


1. Big Q BBQ Give-Away:
“The Levittowner”

Have you ever had the “Levittowner?” Here’s your chance. Drew Abruzzese, owner of Big Q BBQ in Levittown, is giving away a few hundred “brisket cheesesteaks” this Friday between noon and 2 pm. The new creation, which Abruzzese has named “The Levittowner,” features tender, sliced smoked brisket, Cheez Whiz and crispy onion straws tucked into an 8-inch Italian People’s Bakery torpedo roll. Better get in line now. They flew out the door last week.

2. Food and Music at Jamison Grill

Every Friday night, The Jamison Grill has live music and entertainment. Each week features a different performer, along with great food and drink options from The Jamison Grill. On Friday, December 18, enjoy the music of Ryan Shubert from 7 – 10 pm. Happy Hour starts before the show from 4 – 6 pm and the specials include $2 domestics, $3.50 imports and crafts, $4 house wine, $2 off Mixed Drinks, and half off assorted appetizers. After Happy Hour, just stick around for the entertainment. According to some reviews, a must-have is the fish and chips, and the french onion soup is pretty delicious as well.

Who doesn’t love a traditional firehouse breakfast? This weekend, you can have it AND Santa too!

At the Perkasie Volunteer Fire Company its an all you can eat buffet, with a menu of tasty options like eggs, pancakes, waffles, cream dried beef, sausage, bacon, scrapple, home fries, assorted juice and more. You can even top it off with a delicious dessert (who says you can’t have dessert for breakfast?). To add to the fun, they are also having a 50/50 drawing. Bring the whole family, try to win the drawing, and support a worthy cause while doing so.

At the Riegelsville Fire Company, you can order by a traditional morning breakfast menu including eggs, ham, sausage, scrapple, omelets, creamed dried beef on toast, pancakes and more. Served from 8 am – 12 pm and cooked by the firefighters just for you. All proceeds benefit the firefighting program of Community Fire Company #1, Station 42. Call 610.749.2737 for any questions.

Although it’s not Bucks, if you’re in the area the Sergeantsville Fire Company in Sergeantsville, NJ is having breakfast from 7:30 am – 12 pm and Santa will be there from 9 am – 11 am.

4. A Day of Jolly Holiday Cheer

Head to the Riegelsville Library for some holiday cheer — a whole day worth of it. There will be the “Very Merry Cookie Sale,” with homemade Christmas cookies to sweeten the holiday. There will also be gifts by Posh Presents, a chic boutique of gifts like crafts, jewelry, book signings, mediterranean delicacies, farm-made rugs and bags, skin care products and perfect trade coffee (and much more). Then, decorate your own cake with award-winning cake designer Amy Recinos of Amy’s Creative Cakes. You get to decorate your own small cake, take it home and enjoy it through Christmas, that is, if it makes it that long. There will also be a chili and breads to-go sale, as well as a popular raffle.
