4 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (Aug 14 -16)

1. The 67th Middletown Grange Fair

Wed, Aug 12 through Sun, Aug 16, Middletown Grange Fairgrounds, 576 Penns Park Road (between Rts. 413 & 232), Wrightstown, PA 18940

Grange Fair Chicken BBQ Dinner

This is Bucks County’s “county fair,” complete with livestock competitions, 4-H Bunny Clubs (and chickens, and gerbils, and lambs, and cows…), John Deere tractors, pig races, amusement rides and funnel cakes. The food is pretty standard fair food (“Get your fried stuff here!”) but the chicken dinner is GOOD. Grange volunteers cook up delicious chickens on a large grill in the back of the Grange Hall, and serve up half chickens with an ear of local corn, local tomatoes, mashed potatoes, biscuit, and a Goodnoe’s ice cream cup. Go to their website to get more information including schedule of events.

2. Spaghetti Dinner

Fri, Aug 14, 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Delaware Valley Fire Co., 75 Headquarters Road, Erwinna

Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce

You know I’m a big supporter of firehouse breakfasts and suppers. It’s a win-win. Good food and supporting our local volunteer firefighters. This Spaghetti Dinner happens on the 2nd Friday of each month with Gino De Schrijver of Eat This helping with the cooking with the firefighters. Prices: Adults – $9.00, Seniors and Emergency Personnel – $8.50, Children ages 7-12 – $6.50. Children 6 and under eat for free! Take out is available for $9.50

3. Food Truck Fridays

Fri, Aug 14, 6 – 10 pm at Bucks County Brewery, 31 Appletree Lane, Pipersville

Foolish Waffles

This fun time happens every Friday. Here’s what’s on for this week: TWO food trucks. Foolish Waffles will be serving among other things: Fried Chicken and Waffle (free-range buttermilk fried chicken, chili honey glaze, cabbage slaw and bourbon pickled jalapeños) and the food truck, Aioli, will also be there. The Mike and Brian Project is providing the live music. For more information about Food Truck Fridays, see the brewery’s website or Facebook page.

4. Peachy Fun Days

Sat, Aug 15 & Sun, Aug 16, 11 am – 4 pm, Shady Brook Farm, 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley

Peaches on the tree

There’s nothing like a juicy peach fresh from tree! This weekend you can pick your own at Shady Brook Farm and enjoy wagon rides, inflatable attractions, jumping pillows, playground, and more. Admission is $5/person, and peaches are sold by the pound.

Have a great weekend!
