Snowed in? What to eat? AGAIN?
As we all prepare in various ways for the coming snowstorm, it got me thinking. Run to the store for milk and bread? Come on. Let’s face it, we’re not going to be stuck in the house for a week. Assuming you have a typical middle-class pantry, you probably have enough food to take you through a brief nuclear winter.
So what are your food plans this weekend, especially with that football game coming up on Sunday? What’s your favorite “snowed-in” meal, or memory? Lasagne, beef stew, fondue, peanut butter and jelly? Or our plans for tonight – cheese and bourbon by the fire. Leave a comment or a recipe!

I have a favorite for just this time of year…wine stew.
I am always tweaking it one way or another but take a pound of good stew beef, add mushrooms, onions, carrots, potatoes, rosemary, thyme, bay leave, ground cloves, cup sweet vermouth, some beef consomme, and slow roast it for 3 hours….the smell, alone will have you bundled up with a great glass of wine, a good book, a hunk of bread, and of course the fire place. Snow? What snow! Snow is just a beautiful view out my window!
Whoa, Marlene, that sounds delicious. I will definitely try it. Enjoy!
